Launching an artist discovery platform
As curator and programme lead, I independently conceived and led the launch edition of Emerging Art Beat. I developed it as a structured discovery platform through which emerging artists could gain professional visibility, communicate their practices and connect with wider audiences.

Making emerging artists easier to discover
Many early-career and culturally diverse artists were producing ambitious work but had limited access to professional presentation, sustained visibility and wider creative networks.
The challenge
A one-off group exhibition could show the work, but it would not necessarily make individual practices visible, understandable or memorable.
The strategic response
Position Emerging Art Beat as a discovery platform connecting artist recruitment, curatorial development, editorial storytelling, public presentation and artwork collection.

The platform became tangible in the gallery: emerging practices were encountered through a shared public context, not presented as isolated works.
From first concept to public launch
As curator and programme lead, I led the strategy, artist journey, editorial system and public delivery—from the first concept to hosting the exhibition opening and facilitating artist–audience exchange.

Opening-night hosting, artist conversation and onsite programme leadership.
Programme Positioning
Defined the programme purpose, target audiences, artist proposition and the annual narrative.
Artist Acquisition & Curation
Led open call development, research, studio visits, selection, onboarding, curatorial support and installation planning.
Brand & Editorial Direction
Directed the visual identity and created a consistent content system for 26 distinct artistic practices.
Campaign & Exhibition Delivery
Coordinated digital, print, partner and onsite touchpoints, hosted the opening, and created direct moments of exchange between artists and audiences.
One programme identity. Twenty-six distinct voices.
The identity needed to create recognition without forcing very different practices into one aesthetic. A bold editorial framework made the programme coherent while allowing each artist to remain visually distinct.

Master Identity
A clear name, annual theme and bold editorial language positioned the launch edition as energetic, contemporary and accessible.
Artist Storytelling
A repeatable profile format combined artwork imagery, interpretation and biography, giving each artist individual visibility.
Partner Credibility
Institutional acknowledgements and partner communications reinforced trust in a new programme.
Audience Conversion
QR and collection touchpoints extended engagement from viewing the exhibition to learning more and acquiring work.
What the launch edition established
The launch edition established a repeatable programme model and translated it into a visible public experience—bringing artists, audiences, partners and editorial content into one coherent system.

A programme model that returned
Emerging Art Beat returned in 2026, showing that the launch edition had established an identity and operating structure that could continue and scale.
From exhibition to platform

Launching
→ Scaling
The 2025 edition established the programme name, artist proposition, editorial structure and partner pathways. The second edition could then focus on expanding scale, public activations and the programme’s long-term role in supporting emerging artists.
Visibility is designed across the full journey—from how an artist is invited and understood to how they are encountered and remembered.
